Really early on a Sunday morning - the one weekend I work in every 8 or so.

This entry is to kill 15 minutes and get me to 8am - no one else will give 2 shits what I'm writing about - only 7 hours til home time!

Chase played with Lagwagon @ The Hi Fi Bar last weekend - it was totally sold out and the whole queue was in the venue by the time we played - close 1000 peeople - needless to say I was shitting myself before we went on........... Best we've ever played, everyone kicked arse and put on a great show and we got heaps of positive feedback which was awesome (I was expecting more heckling but what can you do).

There's a Veronicas special on MTV in the background - I don't understand how one twin is ok and one twin is ugly, meh.

I want to go and see Walk The Line sometime this week. I was supposed to go see it last night but we ended up at a friend's for dinner - what started as a planned evening of sobriety and relaxing turned into an evening of getting smashed and talking shit - great night but feeling it now.

I've developed a soft spot for pop-rock - I'm siked on listening to Anberlin, Further Seems Forever... I've rediscovered my love for The Juliana Theory - maybe I'm going soft at the ripe old age of 23 but I like having those bands to balance the carnage that is Nile, Pig Destroyer, Mastodon etc...

Ummm, doesn't look like there are any good movies on Foxtel for a few hours - this is shit because I was really looking forward to seeing The Goonies or maybe X-Men 2.

We are recording in a bit under a month - full length album - to say I'm excited is an understatement - the producer we're working with has worked with such metal lumanaries as Taxiride and Matchbox 20 so expect heaps of mosh, 3rd rate blast beats and lyrics about cutting yourself up over myspace girls.

My girlfriend got me season 1 & 2 of "Scrubs" (isn't she great) - this show is amazing: Dr Cox is possibly the funniest character ever created. If you don't know who or what I'm talking about please go and see an episode.

Bullet For My Valentine were just on TV - they are shit (yes Jarule, I said shit).

I've also decided I'm going to the Apollo Bay Music Festival at the end of April - the idea of sitting on a beach with a few beers and a few good people for a few days is appealing right now.

That's about all really.

Summer Fun

The last couple of weeks have been awesome. Started with 5 days away in Apollo Bay with my girlfriend. Lots of relaxing, lots of drinking, too much food, kinda overcast so not enough time in the water but was still awesome. I think those 4 days alone have chilled me out from the near 2 years straight of work with basically no break.

Chase played in Adelaide. It was hot, it was sweaty, there was a lot of booze and it ruled. We played pretty well apparently, there were more than 300 people through the doors and all the other bands kicked arse (thanks to everyone that hooked us up gear, places to crash and was just cool towards us).

This week, me & Wal hit Sydney and Brisbane (as well as Melbs obviously) for Anberlin. All the shows were rad, crowds were cool, band was amazing (and certain members drink more than I have christians credit for). Spent 2 days in Brisbane with Wal's mate Ryan (awesome dude, check out his band Avalon Drive) which ruled as well. Back to work but it was fun in the meantime!

I haven't updated this thing in ages.....

I've got annual leave from January 14th to February 2nd, this is the first time I've had more than 4 days off in a row in 4 years so to say I'm excited would be an understatement.

I'm doing the following:

Jan 14th - Promo photos for the band (thanks Paula).

Jan 16th to 20th - Apollo Bay with Charlotte! (nothing but beer, fish n chips and beaches).

Jan 21st & 22nd - Chase are playing in Adelaide: Gonna be an awesome show with heaps of good bands (The Jonestown Syndicate - Later That Night - Equal Minded - A Thousand Nightmares) @ Fowlers so check it out if you're from Adelaide and you stumble across this journal.

this is the first day I've actually worked this week..... I went to Portsea for the company piss up on Monday & Tuesday, had a senior first aid course Wednesday & Thursday........

To give you an insight into how much my company promotes alcoholism........... We had free drinks from 6pm to 5am: We were still doing tequila shots in bed @ 5am which meant we were still royally fucked throughout the seminar from 8:30 to midday.

Apparently there was vandalism, nudity and I ended up on the roof of the hotel throwing those mini - complimentary shampoo bottles at a couple making out.

This weekend is set to be amazing.... Shai Hulud x 2 and I get to interview them on PBS on Tuesday night which should be cool.

New In Name And Blood is going to be the Australian release of the year...... If you like Mastodon, Pantera and Darkest Hour you're going to shit.

way too wet last night and The Abandonment didn't play that Melb Uni show so no dice.

Did however get a ride to Alexisonfire.......let it be said that they are an amazing live band, no one can deny them of that (even if you loathe quote unquote screamo).

Good to see Armageddon Sky get a good response....Cassie's pushing that band so check em out when you can, nice dudes (they must be good, Corey is a member of their cheer squad).

18 Visions are playing Sunday.......apparently they don't play old songs anymore which is disappointing but I never got to see the Stone Temple Pilots so they should be entertaining at least.

We have a 2 day work retreat to Portsea on MOnday - they pay for transport/accomadation/meals/alcohol - our hotel is right near the golf course - golf buggies will be stolen......this will be fun (and it's a rock n roll theme retreat - me and 3 of the dudes are going as Pantera - be jealous).

I never thought it would be possible but I'm actually getting used to waking up at 4:15am each day. Sure it's freezing, dark and you've only had 3 hours sleep but at least I'm out of work by 3pm.

Things are going well at the moment........new job = more cash, a consistent roster, only have to work one out of every 9 or 10 weekends.......did I mentioned more cash?

What else to report....

- The band just orgainsed our first interstate shows which is pretty exciting.

- My sister just turned 18. She got heaps of cool shit and I'm taking her to get her first tattoo so I'm sure mum will be siked.

- Heaps of good internationals coming up......... Shai Hulud, 18 Visions, Children Of Bodom and The Black Dahlia Murder in Dec/Jan will be amazing I'm sure.

- Go watch Picture The End and Demon Other @ The Arty next week........blast beats a plenty.

Thanks to anyone that came to the show on Saturday night.....was more people there than expected and everyone seemed to have a really good time. Made it a cool night that there were so friend's band's playing as well.

Picture The End are fucken awesome, I don't understand why more dudes into mosh bands aren't all over these guys.

The Abandonment are so metal it hurts, Jake uses a hair straightner but he's still a good dude.

I recommend playing the Pelly Bar if you're into potential knife fights and no sound guy.

Ashby is a hero.

They were ok but it sounded like a 30 min open chord on repeat, Sepultura covers are good though. Ruins, Taking Sides and PTE all sounded awesome though.

last week's shows were amazing, American bands that actually lived up to the hype of a good live show.
Hitlist and In Name And Blood did an awesome job opening both overage nights, Norma Jean were fucken incredible, it was like having all the best bits of Botch and Coalesce rolled into one show (plus the singer kept running around with the mic stand like he was a fucking viking) and Unearth were fucken sick - Trevor looks like Phil Anselmo and they had more guitar solos and beer bongs than a Judas Priest reunion.
